It was a tragic sight in the early hours of Sunday morning as a 25-year-old woman was fatally shot and six other people were wounded due to an altercation that occurred during a remembrance for a man who had died in a car crash.
According to Deputy Chief Adnardo Gutierrez of the Chicago Police Department, WLS-TV reported, there had been a large group out celebrating the four years since the man’s fatal crash when something happened and shots were fired.
The seven individuals who were injured, including the victim who was pronounced dead at the hospital, were taken by ambulance to nearby medical centers.
Among them was 29-year-old male whose chest wound left him hospitalized in critical condition while five others—a 17-year-old girl and three men aged 27, 28 and 29—were hospitalized in good condition. The incident occurred on a street in Austin neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side.
Even though no one has yet been taken into custody for this crime, detectives are still working hard to find witnesses that may have seen or heard something about what happened during the shooting.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact police immediately so they can pass it along and help bring justice to those affected by this tragedy.
It is clear that these kinds of violent events must be addressed immediately if we want our streets and communities safe from perpetrators of crimes like these.
Innocent lives will continue being put at risk due to liberal sentencing policies and weak, Soros-appointed DA’s and Judges handing down weak sentences.
According to reports, it’s still under investigation how many people opened fire, but the gunshots were fired by a person or persons who were taking part in the remembrance.
Deputy Chief Adnardo Gutierrez of the Chicago Police Department said a witness told officers an altercation occurred before the shooting, which happened as the group was in a street in the Austin neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side.
