Benjamin Satterley, the professional wrestler known as Pac, was found dead Sunday in Des Plaines, Illinois, just hours after competing for the All Elite Wrestling National Championship at the company’s All Out event.
The Des Plaines Police Department said there were no indications of foul play and that the circumstances surrounding his death were not considered suspicious. Police said the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office would determine the cause of death.
Satterley was found unresponsive outside a CAVA restaurant at around 4 p.m. local time, according to 911 audio cited by the California Post. An official who responded to the scene reportedly said he was dead on arrival.
He was 40 years old.
AEW confirmed his death late Sunday. “All Elite Wrestling is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac,” the company said in a statement. “A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability.”
“Pac signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and held multiple AEW Championships and competed in some of the most memorable matches in AEW history,” the statement continued. “Our condolences go out to Satterley’s family, friends and fans.”
AEW owner Tony Khan posted his own tribute on X. “Benjamin Satterley defined excellence, as a beloved husband and friend to his many loved ones, and in his wrestling knowledge, skill, unprecedented athleticism, professionalism, consistency and dedication to the sport that he loved and traveled the world to pursue,” he wrote. “May Ben rest in peace.”
Satterley was one of the first wrestlers to sign with AEW when the company launched in 2019. He was a two-time trios champion and the promotion’s inaugural All-Atlantic champion.
Before joining AEW, Satterley wrestled for WWE under the name Adrian Neville, where he was a two-time cruiserweight champion, an NXT champion, and a two-time NXT tag team champion.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque also paid tribute on X. “Saddened to hear about the death of Ben Satterley known in WWE as Neville,” he wrote. “I had the pleasure of working with Ben in the early days of WWE NXT. This moment, from NXT Arrival, marked the beginning of a new era for that brand and the men and women on it, and Ben was a major force behind that. He was an extraordinary talent and even kinder human being. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans across the world.”
