Aaron Rodgers used a podcast appearance to shut down rumors that have followed Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Drew Allar since 2025.
Speaking on “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward,” the 43-year-old Rodgers addressed a viral DM thread that had circulated online and was attributed to Allar, who was selected in the third round of the 2026 draft.
“For those pop culture enthusiasts, there’s a DM thread out there about Drew. He definitely wanted me to come on here and say it’s not true and that it was it was made up, but it’s out there. It’s a little racy,” Rodgers said.
“But he’s been in a committed relationship for a long time. And he’s very happy. And it’s none of that was ever true.”
Allar, 22, has been with girlfriend Emma Bush since high school. Bush posted a couples video on TikTok last week marking “7 years of me and you,” a sign the pair remain together despite the online rumor.
Rodgers said the story had made the rounds among NFL quarterbacks well before Allar joined the Steelers. “When I heard Drew Allar, [the] first thing I thought was, Oh, that DM thing.’ I remember seeing that it went around like the quarterback rooms [because] quarterback rooms are like that like, ‘Hey, do you see this kid in college you know these DMs?’ I was like ‘Oh s–t man,'” Rodgers said.
Rodgers added that he tested Allar on the subject directly after he arrived in the Steelers locker room. “One of the first things I said to him was like, ‘Hey, the DM thing ever get you in trouble?’ You know, especially when he was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve been with, you know, my girlfriend for a long time.’ And I was like, ‘You got through that DM scandal?'” Rodgers said.
Rodgers, who is entering his final NFL season, told Heyward that the current Steelers quarterback room — himself, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and Allar — ranks among his favorites of his career.
