Aaron Rodgers’ estranged family showed up to cheer him on in Pittsburgh last weekend, and the photos are now public.
The Steelers quarterback hosted his brother Luke, Luke’s wife Aimee, and their two older children at Acrisure Stadium as Pittsburgh beat the Indianapolis Colts 34-22 in Week 5. Luke and Aimee welcomed their third child in August.
Luke posted a carousel of images and videos from the trip to Instagram on Sunday, showing Rodgers posing on the field before the game with his niece and nephew, who wore Steelers gear and ponchos. One photo shows Rodgers crouched down talking with his niece, who had on a pink jacket over a Steelers jersey. Other clips show the kids cheering and waving Terrible Towels from a suite inside the stadium.
“Last weekend was pretty special,” Luke wrote in the caption, adding black and gold heart emojis.
Rodgers commented on the post: “Planes, trains and renegade! Also misspelled cakes.”
A Long Rift, Recently Mended
The visit is the latest sign of a reconciliation between Rodgers and his family following a public falling-out that dates back to 2016, when his brother Jordan appeared on “The Bachelorette.” In July, Rodgers surprised fans by posting photos of a “bonding week” spent with family members.
The thaw does not appear to include Jordan. Rodgers has credited his wife, Brittani, with helping bring him back together with the rest of his family.
“She is the big impetus behind that [reconciliation]. Not that she was pushing it, but just the way that she loves me and supports me, it’s allowed me to open up to that possibility. And it’s been a couple-year process of communication and spending time together, but that is a real blessing in my life to have those relationships back and to close that circle that was cut for so many years,” Rodgers told The Athletic in August.
He added: “With her by my side, we reopened that door, and it’s been really beautiful.”
